The legendary former heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson, sparked speculations about a possible return to the ring with a recent Instagram post. The video showcased Tyson undergoing training and concluded with the bold statement, “I’m back.”

Despite being 53 years old, the footage from last week exhibited Tyson still possessing a significant amount of the strength and aggression that earned him a spot in the International Boxing Hall of Fame back in 2011. Towards the end of the concise video, he hinted at the prospect of reentering the boxing world for exhibition matches aimed at fundraising for charitable causes.

The video presented a series of clips showing Tyson energetically hitting training pads, presumably captured over multiple sessions. Despite his advancing age, he seemed to retain the quickness and power that once made him the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles. The montage concluded with Tyson facing the camera directly and declaring, “I’m back.”

Among the potential contenders lined up for a possible bout are Sonny Bill Williams and Paul Gallen. Williams, a New Zealand rugby star who has dabbled in boxing with a perfect 7-0-0 record, and Gallen, an Australian former NRL player boasting a respectable 9-0-1 record. However, the top contender for the anticipated matchup seems to be Evander Holyfield, Tyson’s long-time rival with whom he engaged in several epic battles during their professional boxing careers.
