Discussions to extend Chicago Cubs’ shortstop Javier Baez’s contract have been postponed because of the impact of the coronavirus outbreak. Even though there were positive discussions earlier this year regarding a possible long-term extension, the talks are currently in a pause. Baez has expressed his desire to continue playing for the Cubs but is now in a holding pattern until discussions can be picked up again.
