The 44-year-old Larry Demery is being reviewed for potential release by the North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, as reported by WECT News. He was handed a life sentence in 1996 after admitting guilt to first-degree murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

James Jordan was tragically murdered while sleeping in his car on July 23, 1993. His body was discovered in a swampy region in McColl, S.C., on Aug. 3, 1993. Demery and his accomplice Daniel Andre Green were both arrested and each accused the other of being the gunman. Despite this, Green also received a life sentence.

“In 1996, Michael mentioned that he thinks about his father every day and expects to continue doing so for the rest of his life,” as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Under the current law in North Carolina, crimes committed on or after October 1, 1994, are not eligible for parole. However, Demery’s sentencing falls under previous regulations, making him a candidate for parole consideration.
