There have been discussions about the NBA’s potential decision to prohibit fans from attending games as a measure to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Given the highly contagious nature of the disease, which has been rapidly spreading in the US, large gatherings like sporting events might pose significant risks of transmission.
During his initial remarks on the topic last Saturday, James expressed skepticism, stating, “Playing games without fans? Nah, that’s not happening. I won’t play if there are no fans in the stands. Fans are my motivation. I play for my teammates and the fans.”
However, with the escalating number of confirmed cases and fatalities, James adjusted his viewpoint on Tuesday, remarking, “If it comes to that – playing without fans, I’d be disappointed, but you have to rely on the advice of the experts. If the authorities believe that it’s necessary for the safety of the players, teams, and the league to enforce such measures, then we should all abide by it.”
