Roger Federer’s journey in the US Open came to an end when Grigor Dimitrov pulled off a surprising win against the Swiss tennis icon. Dimitrov, the Bulgarian player, made a remarkable comeback from being behind by one set to secure the victory. Despite battling for three hours and twelve minutes on the court, Federer fell short of claiming his 21st grand-slam title.
Known as ‘Baby Fred’ in the early stages of his career, Dimitrov faced challenges in maintaining his success. Nonetheless, he appears to be transitioning into a promising phase in his tennis endeavors.
Federer breezed through the initial four rounds of the US Open before facing defeat at the hands of the 78th ranked player in the quarterfinals.
During the match, the 38-year-old Swiss maestro had to take multiple breaks with his physiotherapist. Nevertheless, Dimitrov emerged victorious with a hard-earned score of 3-6 6-4 3-6 6-4 6-2.
