Shane Lowry from Ireland had a rough start but managed to take the lead at the midway point of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Thursday. After setting a course record with a score of 62 on the first day, Lowry lost the lead with two bogeys at the beginning.

However, he clawed his way back and quickly found his rhythm, sinking four birdies to finish with a two-under-par seventy and a one-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard. Lowry expressed his satisfaction with his performance, acknowledging the ups and downs of the day with both great and not-so-great shots.

He narrowly missed a six-foot birdie on the final hole, ending up at 12 under overall, one shot ahead of the South Africans going into the third round on Friday. Louis Oosthuizen, who struggled with scores in his last three starts, started strong with three birdies but faltered sending a ball to the 10th hole.

Despite the challenges, the 2010 British Open winner stayed focused and managed to birdie the 13th or 14th hole. A lucky bounce from a bunker set him up for an easy tap-in birdie to finish with a score of 68. Oosthuizen emphasized the excitement of competing and the anticipation of the weekend rounds ahead.
