Lindsey Vonn is not letting history or health determine the end of her remarkable career. Despite overcoming a knee injury, she aims to retire on her own terms. The three-time Olympic medalist is set on returning to skiing after her injury and setting her sights on the World Cup victory record. With just four wins left to match Ingemar Stenmark’s 86 victories, Vonn is determined but insists that this goal should not consume her as she plans to retire in late 2019.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Vonn emphasized that the record does not define her. While aspiring to inspire others through her foundation and promote health and confidence among children, she believes that achieving 87 wins is not necessary for her post-retirement goals. Vonn stresses that once she steps away from skiing, the record will hold no significance as she exits the competitive world.

At 34 years old, Vonn is preparing to retire after a stellar career that includes gold at the 2010 Vancouver Games, eight World Cup season titles in downhill, and numerous other achievements in super-G and overall World Cup championships.
