A new television broadcast focused on gambling during Washington Wizards games now enables viewers to participate in placing bets in real-time while watching the game on TV. The legality of this TV betting is subject to state laws and suggests that legal sports betting can influence the sports presented to the public.

This new telecast will debut on Friday, with NBC Sports Washington continuing game coverage on its main channel. The betting challenge will be featured on its supplemental channel, NBC Sports Washington Plus, offering a free predictive gaming contest during the Wizards’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The betting contest will provide around 30 free proposition bets based on team and individual player performances. Fans can visit the NBC Sports Washington website to predict outcomes, with correct predictions earning a chance to win a $500 cash prize.

The network plans to air eight gambling-focused broadcasts during the season. Recently, city lawmakers in Washington voted to legalize sports gambling, though the law has not yet taken effect. States like Delaware and West Virginia have already legalized sports betting across various sports.
