At the dawn of the universe, with the earth and stars born from the Big Bang, there emerged Hunter Renfrow. Following this cosmic emergence, the Clemson football college sprang into existence. Renfrow holds a unique distinction of deferring his university competition for a year to hone his skills, thus extending his eligibility to be part of Clemson’s 1981 national championship team.
Renfrow later made the winning touchdown catch for the 2016 champions. He caught passes from notable quarterbacks such as Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson, narrowly missing out on surpassing John Heisman’s 1902 record for receiving forward passes—had the pass not even been invented then. Renfrow’s initial jersey featured Roman numerals.
Statistical records reveal Renfrow’s five-year stint at Clemson. His final appearance in a Tigers uniform occurred on Monday in the College Football National Championship playoff against AT&T at 8 PM ET on ESPN. Renfrow supposedly transcended conventional temporal confines during the recent Cotton Bowl Classic presented by Goodyear.
The Clemson Twitter account reportedly disseminated an altered ESPN broadcast, humorously labeling Renfrow as a senior for the past 17 years. Renfrow chuckled at this playful jest and shared how some individuals feel as if their college experiences have swiftly passed by. For Renfrow, it seems like he has been at Clemson for an eternity.
