Andy Murray to Compete in Open Sud de France as Part of Comeback in 2019

Andy Murray added Open Sud de France in his comeback tournament in 2019

Andy Murray decided to wrap up his 2018 tennis season early to make a strong return in the following year. Recent reports indicate that he is gearing up for a comeback by confirming his participation in the Open Sud de France tournament in February 2019.

The Open Sud de France, an ATP event held in Montpellier from February 3rd to 10th, follows a week after the Australian Open. Murray previously stated his intent to play in the Brisbane International warm-up tournament in January and has now included Montpellier in his schedule, marking his debut in this particular competition.

The former World Number One from Britain cut short his 2018 season, concluding it in September. Since his return from hip surgery in June, he had only competed in 12 matches. Murray expressed his desire to return to his peak form and aims to maintain it throughout the 2019 season, thus his decision to end his 2018 season prematurely.

Having played in only six tournaments following his hip surgery, Murray is preparing for next year. His itinerary includes the Australian Open in January as part of his warm-up for the season ahead.
