On the tennis court, Nick Kyrgios’ incredible talent allows him to excel, but off the court, his actions might lead to significant legal consequences.

Kyrgios is scheduled to appear in an Australian court next month in response to an assault accusation made by his ex-girlfriend, Chiara Passari, who claims he physically restrained her in December 2021.

The Australian Federal Police have confirmed that the 27-year-old will face a charge of common assault at the ACT Magistrates Court on Aug. 2 as reported by The Canberra Times.

If found guilty, Kyrgios could potentially be sentenced to imprisonment for up to two years.

“Nick Kyrgios is set to attend an Australian court following allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari. Should he be convicted, Kyrgios could face a maximum of two years in prison,” as reported by Bleacher Report.

Kyrgios and his lawyer, Jason Moffett, are both fully informed about the accusation.

“The allegation is grave, and Mr. Kyrgios takes it very seriously,” as stated by Moffett to Australia’s Canberra Times, via ESPN.com.

Moffett mentioned, “While Mr. Kyrgios is committed to addressing all accusations seriously, it is important to respect the due process that he is required to adhere to.”

The 27-year-old is scheduled to compete against Cristian Garin from Chile in the quarterfinals this Wednesday.
