Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney II stated today that he anticipates Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell will come back to the team next week. Bell has until Tuesday, Nov. 13, to rejoin the Steelers in order to play this season.
Rooney mentioned, “I’m not sure about his intentions, but I believe we can anticipate his return next week. We understand that he is back in Pittsburgh, so we hope to have some discussions with him during the weekend.”
Bell has been absent for the first 10 weeks of the season as he has not signed his $14.5 million franchise tag. If he doesn’t report by Tuesday, he will lose the opportunity to play in the 2018 season.
During the 10 weeks of Bell’s absence, he has missed out on $8.52 million in earnings due to his holdout.
In place of Bell, James Conner has excelled with 706 rushing yards (ranking 2nd in the NFL) and nine touchdowns (tied for 2nd in the NFL).
