Floyd Mayweather Denies Agreement for Official Fight

Floyd Mayweather said he never agreed for the official fight

Recently, Floyd Mayweather took to his Instagram account to clarify that he never agreed to an official boxing match. The 41-year-old boxer’s statement contradicts the earlier announcement of a fight against Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan. The scheduled bout between Mayweather and Japanese Kickboxer Nasukawa was set to happen on New Year’s Eve at an arena near Tokyo.

However, it now appears that the event is off. Mayweather, who promoted the fight in Tokyo, expressed shock during a media conference with his team on Wednesday. He and his team requested an immediate halt to all proceedings related to the fight.

Mayweather stated that he initially believed the bout would be a special event, not an official match to be broadcast worldwide. In his Instagram post, he apologized to his fans for the misleading information and admitted to being unaware of the situation until that moment.

Mayweather also reiterated his retirement from competitive boxing and identified himself as a retired boxer. He stated that he now earns substantial sums for appearances, speaking engagements, and small exhibition matches. Additionally, he was reportedly approached by Rizen Fighting Federation for a 9-minute exhibition match consisting of three rounds against an opponent of their choosing.
