In a surprising turn of events at World Bare Knuckle Fighting, Brennan Ward, a seasoned welterweight fighter, has reportedly pulled out of a scheduled bare-knuckle boxing match against former UFC champion Johny Hendricks. The fight was slated to take place in Wyoming, but Ward decided to withdraw due to alleged contract breaches by the event promoters. Ward announced his decision on social media, expressing disappointment over the situation.
Ward’s social media statement highlighted his frustration with the promoters for not honoring the contract for his fight against Johnny Hendricks. Consequently, Ward opted to decline the fight, citing the breach of contract as the reason. He apologized to his supporters and fans for the abrupt turn of events.
This bout was supposed to be the inaugural event of WBKFF, scheduled to happen at the Casper Events Center in Casper on Friday. The event will be available for pay-per-view streaming online. Following Ward’s withdrawal, organizers are now actively seeking a replacement opponent for Hendricks.
According to WBKFF CEO and founder Tom Stankiewicz, Hendricks remains a part of the tournament, and efforts are underway to secure a new opponent for him pending approval from the Wyoming commission. Despite not having competed since November 2017, Hendricks is eager to participate in the tournament. His last fight dates back to UFC 217 in 2017, where he was defeated by Paulo Costa.
