The most crowned player in the history of soccer in Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo had allegedly left off the team for the forthcoming friendly match against Poland on 11th of October and in 14th October against Scotland according to the reports. The self-elimination by Ronaldo is due to the resurfaced accusation made in a German newspaper Der Spiegel by the alleged victim Kathryn Mayorga. Mayorga had provided the details which link the night of her rape by Ronaldo when she was on vacation in the year 2009 in Las Vegas.
Mayorga has revealed that she had made plans to file a civil suit against the famous soccer star. This week on Tuesday, the Las Vegas police have confirmed that they’ve reopened the case based on sexual assault of the woman against the world-renowned footballer.
In response to this confirmation, Cristiano Ronaldo has threatened to file a lawsuit of his own against the German media outlet. Ronaldo also repeated that the high-pitched cry of “Fake News” is usually heard everywhere. Ronaldo defended himself on Twitter by saying that “I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.”
Mayorga, after the incident, left her job and livelihood as a teacher and went into hiding. She even told Der Spiegel that ever since that night she has had PTSD, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and chronic depression. She said, “I’ve had like these serious breakdowns.” She is constantly blaming Cristiano Ronaldo of the rape, and moreover, she blames herself for signing the settlement.”
Ronaldo has missed one of the Champions League matches against the BSC Young Boys due to a red card suspension, but he’ll return to the field on Saturday to play against Udinese.
