In less than two weeks the 2018-2019 season will commence, and Jimmy Butler remains an important member of an American Professional Basketball team, Timberwolves. After a trade was requested to be carried out under the salary cap, to the major teams – the Clippers, Knicks and the Nets, Butler told Wolves that the Heat is going to work as a landing spot. Nevertheless, the window for completion of a trade before the season begins on 16th of October is about to close. The sources have told ESPN that the Heat are pulling out of all the stops to push things through.
Allegedly, an actual deal did not get through in the night of Wednesday given that there were a lot of discussions made between the two sides since last two weeks. The Miami Heats have revised their offer, but the Timberwolves are keen to get their hands on a couple of players – Bam Adebayo and Josh Richardson to which Miami has exclusively said that the players are not on the table. The Wolves is reportedly asking for a protected pick in the first round for acquiring the All-NBA wing. ESPN has reported that a few other players or a third team might be included to make the contracts work.
Timberwolves have been telling the other teams and are hoping to get in with the bidding of Butler which they still haven’t heard yet as the criteria to make the offer go through is not fulfilled. Sources have confirmed ESPN that until a deal surfaces which meets the desired criteria, Timberwolves is going to hold on to Butler. This might also be the result of the continued reluctance of Tom Thibodeau to part away from the star player Butler even if Butler wants to be moved.
Houston is also pushing very hard to acquire Butler. Butler is still rehabbing from the surgery of his right wrist.
