Anastasija Sevastova said that “it was touch for sure.” She even came out with a game plan which involved slicing the ball back deep as frequently as possible, and she was also waiting for Williams to miss. This was the same approach by Roberta Vince is the semi-final three years prior to 2018’s US Open, with the help of this strategy, Williams was broken off in her opening service game and found that she was trailing 2-0.
After her 6-3, 6-0 victory Williams told Rinaldi that “I’ve been working hard on my volleys.” She was also seen acknowledging that she knows volley as she has won a few double championships. She said, “I just usually only come in only to shake hands.” Serena won 13 major and three gold medals when she teamed up with her sister Venus Williams. But it the singles that are now in the everyone’s focus.
