Sloane Stephens continues her success on clay courts at Roland Garros by defeating 18th seed Karolina Muchova in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, in the third round. She will face Barbora Krejcikova next.

Stephens excels on clay and confidently handled Muchova’s mix of drop shots and forehands. Despite a poor record leading up to the French Open, Stephens has shown improvement, winning against tough opponents like Carla Suarez Navarro and Karolina Pliskova in earlier rounds.

However, Serena Williams faced disappointment as she was defeated 6-3, 7-5 by 21st seed Elena Rybakina. Williams, seeded seventh in the tournament, had high hopes after other top players were eliminated from Roland Garros.

Last year’s champion, Iga Swiatek of Poland, secured a victory over thirtieth seed Anett Kontaveit and continues her run in this year’s tournament. Sofia Kenin, who faced Swiatek in the finals last year, also progressed to the fourth round by defeating Jessica Pegula.
