Ryan Grigson Joins Seattle Seahawks for Upcoming Season

Ryan Grigson to work with the Seahawks in next seasons

After spending six years with the Colts following Bill Polian’s tenure and a recent stint with the Browns, Ryan Grigson is set to join the Seahawks. The news was confirmed by Buddy Baker on Twitter, revealing that Grigson will collaborate with Seattle’s General Manager, John Schneider. Although his specific role has not been defined yet, Grigson’s name has not appeared on the team’s official website, which lists all personnel involved in football operations.

During his time in Indianapolis since 2011, Grigson faced criticism for his decisions, such as failing to surround quarterback Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the draft, with adequate talent. Examples include drafting Bjoern Werner in the first round and trading a first-round pick for Trent Richardson. His tenure ended in 2016 with a lack of depth on the roster, leaving Luck vulnerable to injuries due to insufficient protection.

While Grigson has built relationships within the league, he has also encountered backlash from individuals like former Colts punter Pat McAfee. Despite his admitted shortcomings, Grigson has shown the ability to collaborate effectively with players.

Reflecting on his time in Indianapolis upon his departure, Grigson acknowledged the need to improve his communication and interpersonal skills to be more relatable to others.

The Seahawks, currently grappling with the loss of key veteran players, have opted to give Grigson a new opportunity. Nonetheless, Schneider, his former colleague in Green Bay, has expressed doubts about Grigson’s ability to succeed, citing his past struggles in Cleveland.
