As per the latest report, three members of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles now will not visit the White House. The members stated that, if they receive an invitation from President Donald Trump they will not go white house. Previously two members were informed that they will not come to white house now on Monday, Safety Malcolm Jenkins, the most vocal leaders in the NFL players’ protest movement informed that he is not going to the white house. He is a leader of the Players Coalition which is a group of players that focuses on social justice issues.
Stating about this, Jenkins stated, “No, I personally do not anticipate attending that.”
When he was asked about whether he has received any message from president Trump or not, he informed that he has not got any message from the president. He further added “My message has been clear all year. I’m about creating positive change in the communities that I come from … I want to see changes in our criminal justice system.”
Jenkins stated that he wants to see educational and economic advancement in low income and color communities and see the relationships between the communities and the law enforcement be advanced. It is the thing that Jenkins and his colleague have been trying to do for two years and they will continue it in future also.
Before Jenkins Eagles defensive end Chris Long and wide receiver Torrey Smith had informed they would not travel to Washington D.C. if the Eagles won. In April 2017, Chris Long played for the Patriot skipped their White House visit. Long said, “No, I’m not going to the White House. Are you kidding me?”
Smith also confirmed that he would not visit the White House. He said, “They call it the anthem protest.” “We’re not protesting the anthem. It’s a protest during the anthem.”
