Malik Beasley, shooting guard for the Detroit Pistons, made an unexpected appearance during a live stream hosted by popular streamer N3on on Wednesday night. However, his comments as the show wrapped have sparked some concern among fans and analysts alike.
As N3on was concluding the stream, Beasley, mistakenly thinking the broadcast had ended, was caught on camera saying, “Spark that b**** up, I’m ready to get high now.”

Upon realizing that the cameras were still live, Beasley quickly covered his mouth in shock, highlighting the potential fallout from his candid remarks.

Reactions from the fanbase were swift, with many speculating on possible repercussions for Beasley, including potential suspensions or financial penalties. However, it is worth mentioning that the NBA’s recent collective bargaining agreement, which went into effect on July 1, 2023, has relaxed its policy on marijuana, eliminating testing and penalties for personal use.
Still, this incident may cast a shadow over the 28-year-old sharpshooter’s image.

Interestingly, earlier in the stream, N3on posed a question to Beasley that hinted at the existing tension around the topic of marijuana use: “Is it the same thing like when you drop the blunt?” Beasley’s evasive response, “I wouldn’t know,” paired with his attempt to change the subject when asked about his marital status, suggests that he may have felt uncomfortable discussing personal matters on air.
This discomfort could stem from the recent turmoil in Beasley’s personal life, including his wife, Montana Yao, unfollowing him on social media and deleting images together, raising eyebrows about their relationship status. The couple has two young children, aged 5 and 2.

This isn’t Beasley’s first encounter with controversy. Back in 2020-2021, he made headlines for his public relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of Scottie Pippen, which ultimately led to his wife discovering his infidelity through paparazzi photographs.

Adding to his tumultuous history, Beasley faced felony drug possession charges in late 2020 when police discovered 835 grams of marijuana in his home. Consequently, Beasley was suspended for 12 games without pay after pleading guilty to a felony charge related to threatening behavior.
Now in his ninth season in the NBA, Beasley has signed a one-year deal worth $6 million with the Pistons and is currently averaging 16.5 points per game while leading the league in catch-and-shoot scoring.
