My heart goes out to them and I feel for their unbearable loss.
“As for my personal situation, it will be resolved in due time. The circumstances were quite hectic and resulted in a serious misunderstanding. Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to speak on the details, which I know might be disappointing. However, rest assured that the issue will be dealt with. If you have any questions about the golf tournament, I’m here to discuss that. But beyond that, my thoughts remain with the bereaved family.”
According to reports from ESPN, Scheffler was driving his SUV, marked with PGA Championship logos, when he allegedly ignored a police officer’s command to stop, prompting the officer to engage and bring the vehicle to a halt within a short distance—about ten yards. This incident was part of a larger investigation into the earlier fatal traffic disruption, described by ESPN’s Jeff Darlington as a “confusing situation with the traffic pattern.”
“Scheffler was escorted to a police vehicle, handcuffed, and seemed truly bewildered by the unfolding events. As he was restrained, he looked towards me and pleaded, ‘Please help me,'” Darlington recounted on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” “He was clearly unaware of the full scope of the circumstances and everything escalated very quickly and intensely.”
Latter in the day, authorities booked Scottie Scheffler into the Louisville Department of Corrections. He faced several charges including criminal mischief, reckless driving, felony second-degree assault of a police officer, and non-compliance with a traffic officer’s signals.

Police records indicate that Scheffler supposedly accelerated his vehicle and did not heed to the police, leading to the detective being knocked to the ground, resulting in injuries to his hand and knee.
