Former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and Texas Tech, Kliff Kingsbury, has completed an interview for an offensive coordinator position.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Philadelphia Eagles have interviewed Kingsbury for their open offensive coordinator position. The team had previously fired OC Brian Johnson and recently let go of defensive coordinator Sean Desai.

Kingsbury, who worked as an offensive analyst for the USC Trojans last season, also met with the Chicago Bears for their OC position under head coach Matt Eberflus. The Bears have since filled that role by bringing in former Seattle Seahawks OC Shane Waldron.

The 44-year-old Kingsbury previously served as the head coach of Texas Tech from 2013 to 2018, during which he worked with Patrick Mahomes, now a superstar for the Kansas City Chiefs. Kingsbury then transitioned to the NFL in 2019, taking over as the Cardinals’ head coach after Steve Wilks.

Despite some success with Kyler Murray, Kingsbury’s time in Arizona was marked by second-half collapses and no postseason victories. He was dismissed after the 2022 season, finishing with a record of 28-37-1.

Following a disappointing end to a once-promising season, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has swiftly made changes to his coaching staff. After starting the season 10-1, Philadelphia lost five of its final six games and was soundly defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

We will soon learn if Kingsbury will get another opportunity in the NFL, this time as an assistant under one of the league’s top offensive-minded head coaches.
