Last week, Carolyn Maloney, chairperson of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight & Reform, announced plans to subpoena Daniel Snyder, the owner of the Commanders, for a deposition this week.

A spokesperson for the Committee stated that Snyder has declined to accept the subpoena.

In a recent statement, a representative for Snyder explained that his attorney is currently out of the country, leading to Snyder’s absence at the hearing.

The statement clarified, “Mr. Snyder did not refuse to appear for a deposition.” It further explained that the Committee proposed only one date, June 30, which coincides with the unavailability of Snyder’s attorney. Alternative dates have been suggested by Snyder’s legal team, aiming to facilitate Snyder’s continued cooperation and address any remaining procedural concerns.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell testified at the Oversight panel during last week’s hearing, acknowledging the Commanders’ previous “unacceptable” work environment but emphasizing improvements made over recent years.

Goodell stated, “To be clear, the workplace at the Commanders today is vastly different from the one described to this committee.”

In 2021, the NFL imposed a $10 million fine on Snyder and the Commanders for violations, resulting in Snyder’s removal from the team’s day-to-day operations.
