The referee who was viciously kicked and punched by several individuals following a youth basketball game in Georgia had to undergo treatment that included 30 stitches for his injuries, as reported by TMZ.
Kenneth Tarver, the founder of KB Sports involved in organizing the youth tournament, stated that the referee is recovering. Tarver mentioned that the game included 8th graders, but he remains uncertain about the trigger for the postgame attack.
Tarver mentioned that the team involved in the altercation has been banned, and additional security measures will be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. The injured referee is on the path to a full recovery.
“I’m committed to enhancing the safety of officials,” Tarver expressed.
Authorities are currently investigating the assault.
