Shortly after parting ways with their general manager, Dave Gettleman, the New York Giants have announced the firing of coach Joe Judge.

The announcement came on Tuesday afternoon. In his two-season stint with the Giants, Judge only managed a 10-23 record. Given the lackluster performance, many expected the decision on Judge’s future to fall on the next general manager after Gettleman’s departure. However, team owners John Mara and Steve Tisch wasted no time in taking action. Following a string of five consecutive losing seasons, they believed it was necessary for the Giants to head in a new direction.

“I mentioned before the season began that I wanted to have a positive outlook on our direction by the end of the season,” said Mara. “Sadly, I cannot make that claim, which is why we have made this choice.”

The Giants have gone through four different coaches in the past six seasons as they strive to recapture their success since winning the Super Bowl in 2012. They have only made it to the playoffs once during this period, with Judge assuming the helm from Pat Shurmur in 2020.

The upcoming general manager will be tasked with selecting a new coach to succeed Judge.
