The Minnesota Vikings had a close call against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite holding a 29-point lead in the third quarter, they managed to secure a thrilling 36-28 victory on Thursday night, fending off a determined comeback attempt.

The game at the US Bank Stadium saw the Vikings dominating the first half. Kirk Cousins connected with Justin Jefferson for a touchdown towards the end of the opening quarter. The Vikings continued their strong performance in the second quarter, with Dalvin Cook scoring two rushing touchdowns and Greg Joseph adding a 38-yard field goal. Joseph extended the lead with two more field goals (42 yards and 25 yards) early in the third quarter.

The Steelers gained momentum in the latter part of the third quarter. Ben Roethlisberger found Najee Harris for a touchdown in the final minutes, setting the stage for a remarkable comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. Harris scored another touchdown early in the fourth, followed by another just two minutes later.

Roethlisberger then connected with James Washington and Pat Freiermuth for touchdowns within five minutes of the game’s end. Cousins responded with a touchdown pass to Kendrick Osborn, but the Steelers’ 21-point surge was stopped by the final whistle, securing the win for the Vikings.
