The New York Mets have made a swift decision to part ways with Luis Rojas, who becomes the latest casualty in the revolving door of managers for the team, now set to welcome their fifth manager in just three years.

The Mets made this announcement following their third-place finish in the NL East, trailing behind the Phillies and the Braves with a record of 77-85. Rojas’ dismissal is expected to trigger a series of additional changes during the offseason, with the organization indicating that more details regarding the coaching staff will be disclosed in the upcoming week.

Despite opting not to renew Rojas’ contract as the manager for the upcoming season, the Mets have expressed a willingness to retain him within the organization, although the specific role has not yet been determined.

These developments unfold in the first year of Steve Cohen’s ownership of the Mets, a season where the team was in contention for a playoff spot and potentially a shot at a league championship. During a brief period of 90 days, the Mets held the lead in their division, with Rojas earning accolades for steering the team through challenges, including multiple player injuries, with composure. He was even seen as a possible candidate for Manager of the Year.

However, a combination of ongoing player injuries and a taxed pitching staff resulted in a significant decline in performance starting from the beginning of August onwards.
