On a Saturday night, Kobe Bryant was officially honored in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The former Los Angeles Lakers star tragically passed away in early 2020 in a helicopter accident along with his daughter, Gianna, and seven others.

During the ceremony, Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, shared heartfelt words: “I used to refrain from praising my husband publicly as he received immense adoration from his fans worldwide, and I felt it was my role to keep him grounded. But tonight, I know he’s smiling from above as I openly laud his achievements on this grand platform. I can picture him with arms crossed, a broad grin, saying, ‘Well, isn’t this something?’ He’s still victorious.”

Vanessa went on to express gratitude for Bryant’s love and dedication to his family. “Thank you for being an exceptional husband and father. Thank you for your growth and for learning from your mistakes. Thank you for always striving to improve,” she conveyed.

“All the effort and sacrifices you made have borne fruit. You once advised me, ‘If you’re going to bet on someone, bet on yourself.’ I’m elated you believed in yourself, you surpassed all expectations. You’ve made it. You’re now a Hall of Famer. A true champion.”
