Alex Rodriguez appears to be just as surprised as everyone else to learn that Jennifer Lopez, his former fiancée up until last month, has not only swiftly moved on from their relationship but has also rekindled her romance with her ex, Ben Affleck.
To add to the distress for the former MLB player, it turns out that Affleck had been reaching out to Jennifer even while she was still technically with Rodriguez.
“Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez didn’t just revive their relationship in the last 2 weeks, but rather, it had been developing since February… when he began showering her with emails while she was filming in the Dominican Republic.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ… Ben and J Lo were in very regular contact via email starting in early February when she traveled to the Caribbean to start filming “Shotgun Wedding.” We’re told the emails were not merely friendly but rather filled with love and longing for Jennifer.
For example, after seeing photos of Jennifer in the D.R., he wrote to express how beautiful she looked and how much he wished he could be there with her. However, he was occupied at that time in Boston, filming “The Tender Bar” with George Clooney – and she was still engaged to Alex Rodriguez.
Our sources mention that the emails also mentioned J Lo’s admiration for Ben’s writing and included a line about him being capable of “owning her heart” with his writing.
They continued exchanging emails throughout Jennifer’s filming period… which concluded in late April.”
“Bennifer” has not officially confirmed that they are back together, but recently Jennifer did take a solo trip to Montana last week. According to a source quoted in People magazine, “She had a great time with Ben. She is happy with him and enjoys spending time with him.”
A source close to Lopez mentioned in E! News that, “A-Rod is shocked that J.Lo has moved on,” since they announced their split on April 15. “He truly believed they could have reconciled. He has been trying to reach out to J.Lo to meet with her, but she has been very brief with him.”
Reports suggest that Rodriguez is saddened by Lopez’s reunion with Affleck and stated, “He’s upset,” acknowledging that he tried to inform her about his feelings.
