A 19-year-old Russian hockey player tragically lost his life after being struck in the head by a puck during a game.
Timur Faizutdinov, a defenseman for Dynamo St. Petersburg’s junior team, was competing in a playoff match against Loko Yaroslavl on Friday when the incident occurred. Following the impact, he collapsed on the ice and received immediate medical attention from the team doctor and paramedics before being transported to a hospital.
Despite efforts to save him, Faizutdinov’s condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Tuesday, as announced by the Junior Hockey League. The team plans to honor his memory during their upcoming quarterfinal game with a moment of silence at the start.
The team paid tribute to Faizutdinov, stating, “Forever at Dynamo…Forever in our hearts.”
