The Dallas Cowboys have struggled in the 2020 season, with a historically weak defense and their starting quarterback sidelined for the entire season due to ankle surgery.
Following a significant loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, unidentified players from the Cowboys criticized the coaching staff on Tuesday, telling NFL Network’s Jane Slater that the coaches “are not competent in their roles.”
Despite these challenges, Aaron Rodgers suggests that the backlash against the Cowboys after their recent defeat may be an overreaction.
In his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers was questioned about McCarthy’s performance in Dallas during the first six weeks of the season.
“As far as I am aware of the current facts, they are leading the division,” Rodgers stated. “Being in first place in any division, regardless of the win-loss record, guarantees you a home playoff game. We won our division in 2013 with an 8-7-1 record.”
Rodgers also addressed the criticism from unidentified players towards McCarthy’s coaching staff, stating, “You never want anonymous sources to emerge. I believe that’s quite cowardly.”
