As part of his promotional tour before his comeback to the boxing ring, Mike Tyson alarmed his fans with his incoherent and difficult-to-watch performance during an interview with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on “Good Morning Britain.”

During the interview, Tyson struggled to articulate his thoughts, with one response starting, “I just wanna do this, I plan on doing this for a charity (inaudible),” Tyson began one response. “And I think I’m capable of doing that and that’s what I wanna do.”

The 54-year-old heavyweight boxer has been pushing his body through an intense training program to shed 130 pounds in preparation for an exhibition match against fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. scheduled for next month.

In response to the concern surrounding his interview, Tyson took to Twitter:

“Hey mate … I tried to stay up late for an interview but fell asleep and like a lion I’m hard to wake once asleep,” Tyson tweeted to Morgan. “Training hard and going to bed early. I had no monitor so I couldn’t see you guys and forgot to look into the camera.”

Responding to Tyson, Morgan wrote, “No problem, Champ. We could see you were a bit weary! It was very late in LA. Appreciate this message as some viewers were concerned.”
