Gina Carano Playfully Mocks Instagram with New Censored Version of Past Nude Photo

Gina Carano has a great sense of humor.

Earlier this year, the former mixed martial arts star took to Twitter to criticize Instagram for removing a nude photo she had posted with the intention of conveying a message of empowerment. The 38-year-old included a Prince quote in her caption: “I find freedom sexy. I find freedom so sexy I can’t even explain it to you. You wake up every day and feel like you can do anything.”

Reacting to the photo being taken down, she shared, “So that’s what it’s like to be censored for no reason. The pic was taken down by Instagram. There’s much more important news today but that was some classic bulls—t. The whole post was about freedom of expression. Violating zero rules. Ironic. Feels like I graduated. Thanks, Karen.”

Here is the original deleted photo shared by Gina Carano:

Fast forward to August, she has now chosen to openly tease Instagram and its community guidelines by uploading a drawing that depicts her silhouette, labeled as “censored.”

Gina Carano wrapped up her professional fighting career with a 7-1 record, competing in World Extreme Fighting, World Pro Fighting Championships, Strikeforce, and EliteXC. Her final fight was a loss against Cris Cyborg for the inaugural women’s featherweight title. In this section, the content is about Instagram posts shared by Gina Joy Carano on specific dates. So much. #Repost @briansipemakeup ・・・ Cara Dune played by Gina Carano. Hair by Maria Sandoval. Makeup by Alexei Dmitriew. MS: It’s always a challenge to design a new recurring female lead for any production, but knowing that Cara Dune would be a “Star Wars” heroine (and eventually, an action figure!) made this especially important. Gina was determined to keep this character’s femininity while staying with a more modern warrior idea. We decided on a diagonal pull-through side braid tied up with a bit of string from her wardrobe, and an asymmetric silhouette with textured hair. Cara Dune fast became a beloved character, and I am so proud to see people cosplay her online! AD: Brian had mentioned that there was going to be a new female “Star Wars” main character introduced in this episode, and I was very excited about that and wanted to take the opportunity to do her makeup and help establish the look. We were told that Cara was an ex-shock trooper and that they possibly wanted her to have some tattoos or markings, so I began designing a bunch of tattoos for her. I noticed that some of the shock troopers’ armor designs have a band with squares wrapped around their arms, so I pulled from that for inspiration for the tattoo on her arm. The producers also had us play with the idea of a little teardrop type of tattoo and maybe make it the rebel symbol, so I did several designs of that and in several sizes. After the first makeup test, the two tattoo elements were locked in. For her makeup, we went back-and-forth with her look, with a lot of input from Gina and the director. We all looked at the past “Star Wars” female leads and took inspiration from the “beauty-no-beauty” and “dirt contour” looks that most of them have had. By the third makeup test, Cara’s look was dialed in and ready to go. #starwars #mandalorian #themandalorian #clancybrown @hookuptattoos @samanthawardmakeup @carltoncoleman_makeupfx @chewmakdatchosef @mikeornelaz @ohsabrinacastro @hairdepartmentetc @ginajcarano #ginacarano
