During a recent visit to a sneaker store, Kevin Durant, the star player of the Brooklyn Nets, made his stance clear on the ongoing conversation.
When a nearby fan asserted that LeBron James was the greatest player ever, Durant’s response was a quick “That’s crazy.” He then made his allegiance known by declaring Jordan as the true GOAT instead.
Durant’s career has seen matchups with both James and Jordan. During his time with the Thunder, it was James who was dominating the Championships. Later, with Golden State, Durant faced off against LeBron in the Finals.
In 2019, reports surfaced that Durant felt that beating LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 NBA Finals would establish him as the top player in the game. However, despite winning the Finals MVP award, many still viewed LeBron’s triple-double performance in that series as a testament to his greatness, overshadowing Durant’s achievements.
