The Kansas City Chiefs have faced another setback.
The Kansas City Chiefs revealed on Wednesday that experienced RB Damien Williams has chosen to sit out of the 2020 season.
Statement from Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach on Williams’ decision:
“Damien Williams has informed the team of his decision to opt out of the 2020 season.
“As an organization, we completely understand and respect Damien’s choice, recognizing that it was made in the best interest of his family. He holds significant value to our football team both as a player and a person, and we will feel his absence this season.”
This significant loss paves the way for rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to have ample opportunities in the 2020 season.
Williams played in 11 games last season, accumulating 498 yards on 111 carries and scoring five touchdowns. He also caught 30 passes for 213 receiving yards and two more touchdowns.
