NFL free agent Jadeveon Clowney has expressed his interest in joining the New York Jets. His former teammate from the Seattle Seahawks, free safety Bradley McDougald, who was recently traded to the Jets for strong safety Jamal Adams, revealed that Clowney is eager for the Jets to pursue him.
McDougald took to Twitter on Monday to share a screenshot from a Facetime call with Clowney. In the tweet, McDougald relayed Clowney’s message to the Jets.
“Had a chat with my buddy @clownejd today, and he wants me to pass on a message to the @nyjets – he’s ready for them to make a move! Let’s see it happen 🙏.”
Clowney’s performance for the Seahawks last season was modest with only three sacks. As a player who has yet to achieve double-digit sacks in a season, he had to lower his contract demands this offseason after failing to attract offers that met his initial expectations.
As reported by OverTheCap, the Jets currently have approximately $21 million in available salary cap space.
