As a free agent, Clowney stands out as one of the biggest names available with the recent signing of quarterback Cam Newton by the New England Patriots.
In the past weeks, teams like the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans have been linked to possibly acquiring Clowney.
On Tuesday, NFL insider Josina Anderson revealed that she had a conversation with Clowney who expressed his intention to join a team “before the season starts, if everything stays on schedule.”
When asked about his final team choice, Clowney stated, “No, I have not narrowed down a final team.”
The details of the deal Clowney is seeking remain unknown. Previously, the Browns offered him a contract worth approximately $18 million per season and the Seahawks proposed a one-year, $15 million deal, both of which he has yet to accept.
