On Wednesday, reports emerged that Kenny Stills, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was arrested for participating in a protest at the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, demanding action in the case of Breonna Taylor.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Stills now faces a felony charge of intimidating a legal process participant, as well as misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
Later that day, Deshaun Watson’s agent made a significant announcement regarding his client’s contract extension on Twitter. However, there was no contract update; this was a ploy to draw attention to the need for accountability in cases like those of Breonna Taylor and Elijah McClain.
Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was tragically shot eight times by officers during a botched narcotics investigation in her home on March 13, where over 20 rounds were fired.
Elijah McClain, who was walking home from a store, was reported as a “suspicious person” to the Aurora Police Department. Within 15 minutes of their interaction with him, officers tackled McClain, used a carotid hold on him, and later administered ketamine by first responders, resulting in a heart attack. McClain was declared brain dead and passed away days later.
