Jamal Adams, the standout safety for the Jets, has expressed his desire to leave New York and has requested permission from the team to explore trade options. The former No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft is heading into the fourth year of his rookie contract and is seeking a new deal.
Adams has identified seven teams he would welcome a trade to, including the Ravens, Cowboys, Texans, Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers, and Seahawks. Recently, he added an eighth team to his list – the Buccaneers. He expressed his interest in playing for Tampa Bay and reuniting with former head coach Todd Bowles.
Despite the Buccaneers recently drafting Antoine Winfield Jr. in the second round, Adams sees potential in joining their team given their need for a safety. However, the Jets have not yet agreed to grant him permission for a trade, and reports suggest they are not inclined to move him.
In the 2019 season, the 24-year-old Adams put up impressive stats with 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, one recovery, two defensive touchdowns, and seven pass defenses.
