The ongoing rumors about Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially joining the Warriors continue to circulate.

Golden State Warriors’ standout point guard Stephen Curry is believed to be the primary factor that could sway the Milwaukee Bucks’ star to contemplate joining the Warriors in free agency, as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

While the Bucks have the option to offer Antetokounmpo a lucrative supermax extension when the 2020 offseason commences, he has the choice to turn it down and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2021.

“If Giannis hits the market next summer, he will be 26. Curry — a friendly acquaintance, deemed by insiders as the pivotal reason Giannis would even consider the Warriors — will be 33. Thompson, currently recovering from his ACL injury, and Green, displaying initial signs of physical decline, will both be 31.”

Had Kevin Durant not joined the Warriors a few years back, such discussions may never have arisen. However, with the evolving landscape of the NBA, it is becoming more common for superstar players to team up.

Antetokounmpo was recording impressive stats of 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists for the Bucks before the 2019-20 season was suspended.

Even without Giannis, the Warriors remain contenders for the NBA title as long as their key players are fit and playing at their best.
