Once more, following a promising beginning to the season, the Golden State Warriors seem to have lost their momentum. After a 118-108 defeat at the hands of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors now find themselves outside the playoff race. They currently hold a record of 22-23, placing them 11th in the Western Conference standings.
Fans Criticize Steph Curry Following Recent Game
The Warriors managed to keep pace with the Lakers for much of the game; however, in the final moments, key contributions from LeBron James and Anthony Davis propelled the Lakers to victory.
Stephen Curry’s performance epitomized the Warriors’ inconsistent season. After scoring 13 points in the first half, he was unable to put any points on the board during the second half, a time when the team desperately needed his offensive presence.
In light of Curry’s dismal second-half showing, fans took to social media to express their frustrations.
“Steph is starting to lose a step…he seems to be having more and more bad games…I mean he had a game where he didn’t make a shot this year,” a fan remarked on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Washed up,” another user chimed in.
Kevin Durant, Warriors Explored 2022 Reunion
During his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, former Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant had requested a trade from the team. Following a protracted standoff that consumed much of the 2022 free agency period, Durant ultimately retracted his trade request as he and the Nets decided to continue their collaboration. However, during those trade discussions, journalist Marcus Thompson II of “The Athletic” reported that Durant had preliminary conversations with his former Warriors teammates about the possibility of reuniting.
“The Warriors superstars were in conversations with Durant. In addition to catching up, the Hall of Fame-bound peers did entertain the idea of a reunion,” Thompson writes.
“It was mostly about the stunning nature of it even being possible. The notion of them playing together again had seemed impossible when Durant left in free agency in 2019. They are aware that life has crafted an opportunity for a full-circle moment. They acknowledge it just as everyone else does, and they discuss it like anyone would.”
Following the deterioration of Kyrie Irving’s partnership with the Nets, he requested a trade and was ultimately sent to the Dallas Mavericks in February 2023. Shortly after, Durant was traded to the Phoenix Suns at his own request.
