There was a recent incident involving Hayden Hurst, the Baltimore Ravens tight end, who got scammed by an individual pretending to be former San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum.

According to a report by TMZ Sports, Hurst reported to authorities in Monroe County, PA that he had been deceived. In May 2019, Hurst was contacted by a Twitter account he believed belonged to Lincecum, which had a verified blue checkmark. The account requested signed memorabilia for a charity donation, and Hurst sent some items unknowingly.

However, Hurst’s agent, Phillip Walls, later discovered the jerseys being sold online and uncovered the scam. The perpetrator, identified as Michael Daily from Stroudsburg, PA, admitted to the scheme, using various accounts to acquire NFL gear, including jerseys, cleats, gloves, balls, hats, pictures, and WWE championship belts.

Tim Lincecum, the former MLB pitcher, last played in the major leagues in 2016. In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Amy Gutierrez, Lincecum revealed that he has not officially retired and is in the process of transitioning post-baseball. He mentioned that coming to terms with life after baseball has been challenging, and he is still finding his path while dealing with family matters. Lincecum expressed his journey of self-discovery and adjustment to a new phase of life.
