On Wednesday, the NFL declared that referee Bill Vinovich will head the officiating team for the upcoming Super Bowl LIV.
Accompanying Vinovich will be umpire Barry Anderson, field judge Michael Banks, down judge Kent Payne, side judge Boris Cheek, line judge Carl Johnson, back judge Greg Steed, and replay official Mike Chase.
Michael Thomas, a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision on Twitter using teary-eyed emojis.
O no 😭😂😂 he don’t even own any flags . Let me stop 😂😂 https://t.co/8rkXl60tew

Thomas wrote, “O no. He don’t even own any flags. Let me stop.”
Similarly, to Thomas, the New Orleans community continues to feel aggrieved over the infamous 2018-19 NFC championship game where a missed pass interference call derailed the Saints’ Super Bowl aspirations.
To be clear, it was not Vinovich who neglected to throw a flag on Nickell Robey-Coleman, but he was overseeing the officiating crew.
