Arizona Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson Suspended for Performance-Enhancing Drugs

Arizona Cardinals’ standout corner, Patrick Peterson, is facing a suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), sidelining him for the initial six games of the upcoming 2019 NFL season. The NFL disclosed the suspension on Thursday, citing Peterson’s violation of the league’s policy on enhancing substances.

Having decided not to contest the suspension any further, Peterson expressed remorse for his actions, stating, “I have never been in such a situation and never intended to be associated with such behavior. I am keen on moving forward and leaving this incident in the past.”

The Cardinals issued a statement acknowledging the disappointment caused by Peterson’s suspension, saying, “Patrick acknowledges the setback this brings to the entire team and our supporters. He recognizes that despite his intentions, he is accountable for everything he ingests.”

During his suspension, Peterson will be allowed to partake in team practices leading up to the season and take part in preseason matches. His return to the regular season play for the Cardinals is set for October 20 when they face the New York Giants.
