King Kong Bundy, whose real name was Christopher Alan Pallies, passed away at the age of 61 on March 4th, 2019. His close friend and promoter David Herro confirmed the sad news on Facebook, calling him a legend and like family.

Bundy was not only a professional wrestler but also a stand-up comedian and actor. He is most commonly known by his ring name. He is famously remembered for his steel cage match against Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight title in the main event of WrestleMania 2, where Hogan emerged victorious. Bundy rose to fame during his time in the World Wrestling Federation from the 1980s to the 1990s.

The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed yet. Born on November 7, 1957, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Bundy received his wrestling training from Larry Sharpe at the “Monster Factory” in Bellmawr, New Jersey. Interestingly, not many people are aware that King Kong Bundy was not his original ring name; he went by “Chris Cannon” and “Chris Canyon” early in his career. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall (193 centimeters), he made his debut in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1981 after appearing in joint shows of New Japan Pro Wrestling and WWF in 1985.

WWE expressed their condolences on Bundy’s passing, describing him as one of the greatest big men in wrestling history. They extended sympathies to his family, friends, and fans. Hulk Hogan also paid tribute to Bundy on Twitter, expressing his deep sorrow and reminiscing about their time together in the ring.
