It looks like Rutgers University is making a strong showing in Super Bowl LIII. Despite not securing a national title since 1869, the Scarlet Knights are well represented with a total of four players from the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots combined. This makes Rutgers stand out as the most prominently featured college in this season’s Super Bowl. Additionally, Georgia also has four players in the game, contributing to a total of 21 players from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the most represented conference.

Moreover, there are at least ten schools with a minimum of three players each in the Super Bowl. Notable mentions include five players from Pac-12 schools such as Oregon, California, USC, Oregon State, and Washington. The Crimson Tide team boasts two players, Donta Hightower and Mark Barron, who have both won national titles during their college careers, with Hightower winning in 2011 and Barron in 2009.

Several other players in the Super Bowl have also claimed FBS titles during their time in college. Lamarcus Joyner won in 2013 with Florida State, Andrew Whitworth in 2003 with LSU, and an unnamed player from Michigan when they shared the national title with Nebraska in 1997 prior to the BCS era.

Among the notable rookies are Sony Michel from Georgia and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo from Oklahoma, who both participated in the College Football Playoff in the past. Another standout is Matt Longacre, the Rams’ outside linebacker, who won a Division II national title in 2013 while playing for Northwest Missouri State. Longacre is one of the four Division II players on the Rams roster for the Super Bowl.
