Mike Pereira: Full-Time NFL Officials Not the Ultimate Solution

After hearing former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy’s call for NFL officials to go full-time on SI Now, Fox Sports expert Mike Pereira doesn’t believe it’s the silver bullet solution the league needs.

Pereira argues that merely having officials on a full-time basis and assigning them tasks like reviewing videos or studying the rulebook for extra hours won’t necessarily address the issues at hand effectively.

He also points out that there are limitations when it comes to embracing technological advancements, as members of the Competition Committee like Stephen Jones and John Elway have expressed concerns about making pass interference reviewable.

Pereira insists that instead of relying solely on on-site officials or turning to a remote party for assistance from New York during games, there needs to be a push for exploring alternative methods to improve the decision-making process without prolonging the game duration unnecessarily.
