Lindsey Vonn is gearing up to return from injury and compete in exciting races in Austria as she aims to break the enduring record for World Cup victories. This weekend marks the start of the skiing season after Vonn’s recovery from a knee injury that forced her to miss six events.

In a post on Instagram, Vonn expressed her determination, saying, “I’m NOT done yet!!!” She shared a video showcasing her training progress during her rehabilitation. She is eager to hit the slopes again and is looking forward to racing in St. Anton this weekend. The event in St. Anton am Arlberg will feature a downhill race on Saturday followed by a super-G, with training sessions commencing on Thursday.

This weekend’s races will be crucial for Vonn as she aims to add three more wins to her tally to surpass the overall record of 86 victories held by Swedish skiing legend Ingemar Stenmark from the 1980s. Focusing on her specialties of downhill and super-G, Vonn skipped technical races in October and November before sustaining her injury during training at Copper Mountain in Colorado.

The injury affected Vonn’s ligament and caused bone damage just a week before the start of her season that includes downhill and super-G races at the popular Lake Louise resort in Alberta. Subsequently, Vonn was unable to secure a super-G title in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and missed out on a super-G and downhill in Val Gardena, Italy.

Initially considering retirement at the end of the season, Vonn’s setback led her to announce her participation in a series of speed races at Lake Louise in the upcoming season. She also has her sights set on competing in the World Championships scheduled to take place next month in Are, Sweden.
