The US national soccer team clinched a 2-0 win against Jamaica on Thursday, propelling them forward in the qualifying tournament for the upcoming World Cup.

The team took to the field minus Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna, two key attackers sidelined with injuries. This victory marks the second consecutive win for the US squad, following their 4-1 triumph over Honduras in September. Following earlier draws against Canada and El Salvador, these recent victories have elevated the team to eight points, securing the top spot in the North, Central American, and Caribbean qualifiers.

Ricardo Pepi scored both goals for the US at the 49th and 62nd minutes of the game. Pepi, who also scored in the match against Honduras, holds the title of the youngest American player to score in back-to-back World Cup qualification games. At just 18 years old, he began his career in the MLS with Dallas in June 2019. Despite his young age, Pepi has emerged as a crucial player for the 13th-ranked US team, garnering interest from various European clubs curious to see the trajectory of his career.

On the same day as the US victory, Honduras tied with Costa Rica with no points gained; Mexico settled for a 1-1 draw against Canada; and El Salvador triumphed over Panama. Jamaica’s team currently sits in eighth place in the rankings.
